Child Safety Standards

Version 2 · Last updated

These are the standards Crushly applies against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). They apply to every member and to everything on the service.

Adults only

Crushly is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. Minors are not permitted to hold an account, and no feature of the service is directed at children.

  • Everyone gives a date of birth when signing up, and anyone under 18 is refused
  • Before a profile is shown to others, a member of our team reviews a selfie alongside the profile photos
  • Any member can report a profile they believe belongs to someone under 18. Accounts found to belong to a minor are suspended and removed

What is prohibited

We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. The following are prohibited and lead to a permanent ban:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind, including drawn, edited or computer-generated imagery
  • Any content that sexualises a minor
  • Grooming, or any attempt to contact, befriend or meet a minor for a sexual purpose
  • Sextortion, and threatening or coercing a minor
  • Child trafficking, and offering or seeking sexual access to a minor
  • Sharing, requesting or linking to any of the above

How to report

In the app. Open the profile, photo, message or conversation, choose Report, and select "Child sexual abuse or exploitation" — or "Someone under 18" if you believe a member is a minor. You can add a description. You can report even after you have unmatched or blocked the person. You can also write to us in the app under Help & support.

By email. If you do not have the app, or prefer email, write to our child-safety point of contact below. Do not attach or forward the material itself — describe where you saw it, and we will take it from there.

What happens after a report

  • A photo reported under a child-safety category is taken out of circulation immediately, before any review. Reported messages are preserved as evidence
  • The report goes to a restricted queue for our safety lead, ahead of all other reports. Reported images are not displayed to general moderators
  • If the report is confirmed, the account is permanently banned, and the phone number is blocked from registering again
  • We report confirmed child sexual abuse material and exploitation to the appropriate authorities in accordance with applicable law — in India through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in), and to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) where applicable — and preserve the relevant evidence for them
  • We co-operate with lawful requests from law-enforcement agencies

Photos on Crushly are reviewed by people before they are shown to other members. We rely on that review and on member reports; please report anything you see.

Child-safety point of contact

  • Contact: [to be published before launch]
  • Email: [to be published before launch]

This contact is the designated point for child-safety matters, including enquiries from app stores, regulators and law enforcement about our CSAE prevention practices.

If a child is in immediate danger

Contact the police or emergency services first — in India call 112, or Childline on 1098. You can report online child sexual abuse material directly at cybercrime.gov.in. Crushly is not an emergency service.
